VAGMON

VAGMON:The trip to Vagamon was very interesting and the accommodation there was very cool. It was a good resort. It was a good vibe there. We went with the chicken and from there they prepared all the setup to bake it. From there we ate the food we made. We woke up early the next day. The first thing they did was go to the rock and there was a lot of fog by dawn. It was good fun there. Then we looked for other places.

The people here are good peoples good behaviour.Helps for all things. The people itself becomes the guids for the  tourist who visit the place. they were much happy in helping throuh finding placess spent time in. They did all the help without expecting any sorrt of reward.

We went to the Pine Forest Lot where it was very beautiful and full of pine trees. When I went there it was the feel of places I had seen in old movies. It was a very beautiful place. After that we went to Mottakunnu and when we went there some of the hills are unique because those hills look like motta. Very nice breeze blowing from the top of it and very nice there too. Overall Vagamon is a place of good taste.

What makes Pine Valley special is that it showcases the enchanting view of the pine forests uphill. It is from the valley that the rows of trees become visible in all their glory. Located near the hi-tech bull mother farm functioning under the Kerala Livestock Development Board (KLDB), the valley is abuzz with a few shops and hotels. The stone-paved road lined by pine trees on either side urges one to take a stroll, reliving the familiar visuals from movies.

Vagamon is dotted with lush green hills which are devoid of any trees which are locally called “mottakunnu” which means barren hills. These hills might look inconspicuous from a distance, but walking through them and spending time on the grass meadows is a very unique experience. There was fog which was increasing as the sky was getting darker and there was also a slight drizzle of rain, enhancing our incredible experience on the hills which the photos we took cannot convey completely..

THANGHALPARA

Thangalpara: is not much popular but an attractive tourist destination in Vagamon, Kerala. The place is 2500 feet above the sea level near Vagamon hill range. This place can be reached via Vagamon which is well connected with Kottayam as well as Idukki. The place is famous for Pilgrim tourism because of the historical importance in connection with Muslim communi

Historical and Religious Importance: The Thangal para is a unique rock formation on top of a rocky hill which has some devotional and spiritual significance among devotees. It is believed that Sheikh Fariduddin, a Sufi saint from Afghanistan had lived and died here 800 years back. There is a huge spherical rock formation on top of the hill which the devotees believe that the saint was using for grinding Pan. After the death of the saint the rock started growing enormously and the tomb of the saint lies right in front of the huge rock. There is a small masjid and prayer centre and a well.

Thangalpara is very famous for its history. You can see and enjoy it so beautifully. This is a big rock. At the bottom of it is their grave. More and more people are coming for prayers and so on. I decided to go to Keran with the desire to see it. I climbed a lot of mountains and after a short walk I got tired but the fatigue did not discourage me. I had faith that I would get there. So when I started getting there it rained good. Finally got there. I saw it.

VAGAMON SUICIDE POINT

Vagamon also prides in having a Suicide Point; it is called Moonpara. It is a gorge which is V-shaped. It is one of the beautiful locations in Vagamon. From this place, you can see the deep-seated valley below. The sight is full of awe. The depth of the valley appears like an abyss. Though Trekking to the Suicide Point is a bit of a strenuous activity, it is a wonderful experience too, as the way to the summit is very pleasing and enchanting. The scenic beauty around.

Suicide Point also happens to be the starting point of Paragliding. This is a part of South India's Second highest peak namely the Amruthamedu. There are organized events where both professionals and newcomers can experience the thrill of paragliding. There is a 10 km long ridge with 3,000 feet from top to bottom. The site has steady winds in the South West Direction throughout the season. The paragliding season starts from September and offers great flying conditions until January and again, from March to May.
